When our client, a talented knitter and seamstress with a penchant for pink, asked us to transform a small room in her sun-drenched 1920s Tudor in Dallas' famed M-Streets, we knew it had to be both highly functional and undeniably charming. She needed a space that could serve as a craft room for her creative pursuits while also doubling as a cozy and welcoming guest retreat. The result? A vibrant, personality-packed room that embraces color, vintage charm, and thoughtful design details.

For our client’s sewing station, we incorporated a vintage table she already owned, which worked seamlessly within the design. The custom-upholstered dining chair even has casters for ease of movement, and we just adore the contrast cording and little surprise pattern in the kick-pleats.

Storage was a must for all the tools and materials that come with crafting, so we sourced a fabulous vintage credenza and had it lacquered in a bright, sunny yellow for a pop of cheerful color. Above it, we crafted an inspiration board to showcase swatches, sketches, and mementos that spark creativity.

Every detail in the room was carefully considered, from the custom Roman shades adorned with an adorable orange French-knot trim (a subtle nod to needlework) to a colorful runner from one of our all-time favorite British designers, Kit Kemp. Even the lampshade got the designer treatment—covered in a bright floral fabric and finished with a playful scalloped pink trim.

Maximizing space was key, so we anchored the room with a stunning cane daybed from Serena & Lily, layered with an eclectic mix of fun pillows that invite lounging. Above the daybed, we hung a collection of exquisite antique E.A. Séguy prints we sourced at Roundtop Antique Fair. Séguy, a French designer from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements of the 1920s, was known for his bold patterns and striking color palettes—these prints could not have been a more perfect fit for our client’s aesthetic.

The result is a joyful, highly functional space that seamlessly blends work and relaxation. It’s a room that celebrates creativity, color, and personal style—a true reflection of our client’s vibrant personality. Whether she’s sewing, knitting, or welcoming guests, this space is ready to inspire.
